Ask for a sample warranty before you buy. Here's what to look for: Who wrote it? If the document came from the steel mill instead of your manufacturer, it was written to protect them, not you. We write our own — signed, with your name, your address, and your installer on it. What's covered? Our WeatherXL® SMP system by Sherwin-Williams covers 50 years of paint adhesion — no cracking, flaking, or peeling — plus 30 years of chalk and fade, capped at 7 Delta E units and warranted to fade evenly so you never get a blotchy roof. What about the screws? A 50-year panel with unwarranted fasteners means rust streaks in five years. Our WoodUltimate fasteners are warranted against red rust for the life of the building. Is it prorated? Most are — 90% covered in year 10, next to nothing by year 30. Ours isn't. If the paint fails at 49 years and 11 months, we cover full material and labor. Is it transferable?
